Let's Get Down to Business

A week has past trying to secure a phone interview, but it’s easy to understand why. Frederica Boateng is one busy, busy woman.

“I must admit it isn’t easy” explains the mother-of-one, London College of Contemporary Arts lecturer, and business woman. “However I wouldn’t say it’s hard, hard as in it’s like a chore because I really enjoy it”. So how does this hard working 24-year-old find enough time to do it all? A healthy balance and to prioritise things very well, reassuringly.

It’s clear that Mrs Boateng is driven, but where does all her passion stem from? “No matter what position you are in in life you should never stop learning” Boateng said. If her success is anything to go by, her wise words prove true. “Education played an really important role in terms of inspiration.”, and her experience is extensive. An educational background in Fashion Marketing and a LCF Masters in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation, in accompaniment with having fruitful careers in journalism, design and sales.

Frederica owner and creator of Let's Talk Fashion Business
A few years ago, she decided to share her skills with other young creatives. Noticing a lack of support networks for fashion creatives, she constructed Let’s Talk Fashion Business to help talented designers who don’t know how to protect or promote their products. Wanting to provide further understanding in finding jobs in this often frustrating industry, she put her vast knowledge and experience to use and executed LTFB.

Whilst it’s evident that education has provided boundless inspiration for her brand, she also took advice from other consultants, designers, students and graduates because she needed to know everyone’s thoughts. “It was important because this help me shape Let’s Talk Fashion Business,” she says.

It’s easy to see that the future of LTFB is promising, with this diligent woman at the helm. Frederica knows what it means to utilise every available tool you can get your ambitious hands on, and thanks to this realisation, she has provided a business to help others grasp this too.

The fashion industry is constantly changing, and a thick skin is necessary. “Don’t give up”, she endorses. Additionally, she recommends to collaborate, attend seminars and workshops and network like your life depended on it.

Whilst her business turns one in 2017, she doesn't divulge any up-and-coming plans for the company after the New Year, however, she does leave some parting wisdom. “Be patient, success doesn’t happen over night, be realistic in everything you do. Plan plan plan”.
