LIVE LOVE SPARKLE

It's the end of another London Fashion Week, and what better war to end it then with models throwing glitter in the faces of the famous front row. Ashish Gupta has been building his sparkly label since 2005. His shows are never short of dazzling. This 10 year anniversary show gave us lashings of sequins and glitter, plenty of chiffon, and distressed denim. There is an undeniable sense of fun within his collection. The designer also used his platform for sexual expression with diverse casting and garments that can be worn with either genders. It has been a recurring theme that has featured in his shows since his SS14 collection.

Ideas and understanding about gender identity and gender roles are finally beginning to change. With Miley Cyrus and Ruby Rose publicly advocating this, and Jayden Smith modelling womenswear for Louis Vuitton's campaign earlier in January of this year, it's thrusting the issue into the spot light. Around the time this collection met the catwalk, the king of eradicating traditional gender lines, David Bowie, sadly passed away. So not only is this trend a fitting tribute to the glam musician, but realising that gender fluidity is a celebration, and it's refreshing to see Ashish also using his platform to create further diversity in fashion.

Wild Wild West

Going home is a tri-annual occasion. Every moment is precious, and I appreciate every second of it.

This isn't a long piece because I don't need to justify how beautiful a trip to Galway can be. The City of the Tribes has everything from craic and culture, to unforgettable scenery. I'm sure everyone must know somebody who is from there, or at the very least - they must know someone who visited the city and instantly fell in love with all Gallimh had to offer.

I think when you live a considerable distance away and you go home to visit, it makes the experience so much more special. Well, that's the case for me. I notice this every day when I'm back in London. I can't just ring my dad and ask him to go for a coffee, or jump on a train to grab lunch with him when I'm feeling stressed or upset. Sure, I can give him a call, but it's not the same when you're a proper daddy's girl.

I'm getting older now. I can't do hangovers. Visits home that include going on the beer every night don't interest me as much. Watching some crappy telly or going for a walk out West with my dad is all I need. There's nothing more soothing then a walk in Furbo, or Spiddel. That salty fresh air is a tonic for the soul, the perfect landscape is soothing for the mind and a dip in the sea is invigorating for the body. It's easy to get lost in the cosmopolitan vibes of London. A trip out of the Big Smoke can sound welcoming, and it's why a trip to Galway is the perfect destination for some well needed r&r.

I'm back in London less than 24 hours, and I already can't wait to get back to the wild West.
