LIVE LOVE SPARKLE

It's the end of another London Fashion Week, and what better war to end it then with models throwing glitter in the faces of the famous front row. Ashish Gupta has been building his sparkly label since 2005. His shows are never short of dazzling. This 10 year anniversary show gave us lashings of sequins and glitter, plenty of chiffon, and distressed denim. There is an undeniable sense of fun within his collection. The designer also used his platform for sexual expression with diverse casting and garments that can be worn with either genders. It has been a recurring theme that has featured in his shows since his SS14 collection.

Ideas and understanding about gender identity and gender roles are finally beginning to change. With Miley Cyrus and Ruby Rose publicly advocating this, and Jayden Smith modelling womenswear for Louis Vuitton's campaign earlier in January of this year, it's thrusting the issue into the spot light. Around the time this collection met the catwalk, the king of eradicating traditional gender lines, David Bowie, sadly passed away. So not only is this trend a fitting tribute to the glam musician, but realising that gender fluidity is a celebration, and it's refreshing to see Ashish also using his platform to create further diversity in fashion.
